for small boats such as kayaks and such, I'm curious to know if anyone has used or tried using water proof wood glue with fiber glass for holding seams in strip planked hulls, were tightly fitted and clamped joints can be expected (as previously mentioned above). It has no gap filling properties, tends to creep under load, but the typical strip planked build will usually have a epoxy set fabric sheathing, which serves to protect the PVA glue (it's really an adhesive).
Veneered Plywood: waterproof plywood with teak, ash and sapele decorative veneer. Also teak/ash striped plywood for boat The wood Epoxy Saturation Technique, or WEST system, is a technique for sealing a wooden boat against the ingress of moisture. A thin layer of liquid epoxy is applied When building my first wooden boat I chose Bote Cote, a high solids epoxy produced by a company in Brisbane, the closest major city to my residence. 100% solids, marine grade epoxy will. Several brands (types) of paint actually seal wood better than CEPS. An 8'x2' boat can't support much. Assuming a real 8'x2' box, without curves, just a box, a 2" draft will yield 166 pounds of displacement. At 3" of draft you'll get about 249 pounds of displacement. Assuming you'll put some bottom rocker for maneuverability and shape in the ends, you'll decrease these figure substantially. What design are you building?

I took a scrap of B-C marine grade plywood (that's what the lumber yard sells as A-B grade, is actually a B-C grade specification - go figure) I applied the name brand wood sealant according to instructions on one half, and my waterproofing secret sauce on the other half. Once dried, I If you need to fill gaps, you can use a thicker (less acetone) mix, but polyester resin does not do well with build-up, and should not be used for that purpose unless your voids are pin-sized. Polyester
I'm just curious what I could use to waterproof the plywood with, both above and I have a Glass over plywood trimaran and have replaced the decks with construction ply which I have put epoxy resin on both sides in a similar fashion to what you have done. I appologize for questioning you ablilities but after buildling a number of small wooden boats, kayaks and speed boats (all out of wood) I have never once had a delamination issue using polyester resin.
5 Mar 2017 Marine plywood is often used in boat building but why do we have to use plywood specifically made for the marine environment and are there cheaper options? Surely if the wood is not exposed then the material lying underneath doesn't need to be water resistant? Poor quality Marine ply uses a waterproof higher grade of glue in between the layers of veneer which also has less imperfections than standard plywood, and is marked with 'BS 1088' meaning:.

It is my understanding that, unlike many years ago, the only real difference between standard plywood and marine plywood is that marine plywood has more plies (layers) than regular plywood and less voids (open spaces where air / water can be trapped and later cause rotting) in the wood. Years ago it used to be made with a
